\ud83d\udc68\u200d\ud83d\udcbb On 28 April, students of the EC-21 group of the Economic Cybernetics and Business Analytics study programme took part in a meeting with Serhii Klimov, a software engineer at BAS, who gave a guest lecture as part of the course \u2018Technology of Designing and Administering Databases and Data Warehouses\u2019 \ud83d\udcda.<\/p>

\ud83e\uddd1\u200d\ud83c\udfeb In a dialogue with the students and the course instructor, Sergiy Mynenko, the speaker discussed the role of databases in various fields, from software development to business analytics. The participants discussed typical interview questions, test opportunities, and requirements for candidates in the field of data science.<\/p>

\ud83d\udd0d During the meeting, the technical and conceptual aspects of working with databases were discussed. The speaker drew attention to stored procedures, triggers, and their role in building a reliable and scalable system. The speaker also revealed the nuances of using deeply nested procedures, their impact on performance and code support, and the importance of restricting access to the database to prevent data leaks.<\/p>

\ud83d\udca1 The speaker emphasised the importance of a balance between hard and soft skills, in particular, he mentioned SQL proficiency, understanding of programming languages, experience in creating information systems and English language skills. Sergey Klimov also emphasised the importance of logical thinking, cause-and-effect relationships, and the ability to understand the big picture as key skills for successful development in database development \ud83d\udcbc.<\/p>
