Continuation of the Joint Program for Virtual Mobility “Econometrics”

On 22 April 2025, a regular class was held within the framework of the Joint Program for Virtual Mobility “Econometrics”, implemented in partnership between Sumy State University and Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU, Bareilly, India).

🔍 The class was dedicated to the topic ‘Multivariate Adaptive Regression Splines (MARS) Using Stata’.

👩‍🏫 The main speaker of the event was Alina Yurievna Efimenko, Assistant Professor of the Department of Economic Cybernetics, Sumy State University.

🧩 The lecture covered in detail both the theoretical foundations of MARS modelling and its practical use in the Stata environment. The speaker illustrated the application of the method on the example of analysing the impact of innovation on the level of corruption, using World Bank statistics for different countries. The participants discussed in detail the construction of the model and the interpretation of its results. Particular attention was paid to MARS’s adaptability to different data sets and the possibilities of its use in applied research.

✨ We thank all the participants for their active participation, interesting questions and additions. We are looking forward to the next classes to continue deepening our knowledge of econometrics and sharing international experience!
