Qualifying master’s thesis

Master’s thesis is an independent study performed by a student at the final stage of study. It is a qualification document on the basis of which the EC determines the level of theoretical and practical training of the student, his readiness for independent professional activity in areas related to analysis of economic processes, forecasting their dynamics, making rational decisions on economic systems management taking into account uncertainty, conflict , risk, automation of economic information processing in banking or other institutions. On the basis of the defense of the master’s thesis, the EC decides to award the student a master’s degree.

As a theoretical and applied research, the master’s thesis should contain the results of deep theoretical understanding of the current organizational and managerial and economic problems, sound proposals for its practical solution, have internal unity and certify the personal scientific and practical contribution of the author.

The purpose of preparing a master’s thesis is:

  • deepening of the student’s theoretical and practical knowledge in the chosen specialty, the formation of skills to apply them in solving specific practical problems;
  • mastering the methods of theoretical and experimental research, consolidation of skills of independent research work;
  • gaining practical experience in analyzing the results, forming their own conclusions and proposals for the object of study.

The task of the master’s thesis is to conduct theoretical research and build economic and mathematical models of an applied nature in order to use them for analysis and decision making in a particular field of economics, or to develop an automated solution for processing economic information. An indicator of the quality of master’s training is their development of real proposals, executed and tested on the materials of specific organizations. The proposed project developments can be fully or partially used in the practice of these organizations.
