🎨 The world of gamedev is not only about code, but also about complex visual architecture. Today we share the story of Oleksandra, a 20-year-old 3D artist whose path to freelancing has become an example of how classical education, modern technologies, and iron discipline combine.
For students of our department, this experience is interesting primarily as an example of rapid adaptation to market requirements and the use of digital tools to build a career.
🏛️ Oleksandra started out by studying to be an architect. As it turned out, architectural education gave her not only a creative, but also a powerful mathematical and technical base. In 3D modeling, this is critical: understanding space, the logic of building objects, and attention to detail are what distinguish an amateur from a professional.
“Architecture taught me the logic of the environment. Now in 3D I don’t just draw a picture – I create a space that should work according to certain rules,” comments Oleksandra.
🚀 The strategy of “not waiting for the perfect moment”
One of Oleksandra’s key decisions is to start applying for jobs while still studying. Her approach to job hunting is noteworthy:
She applied for a job that required knowledge of software that she didn’t have (and learned it “from scratch” during the work process).
To prepare for the interview, Oleksandra used ChatGPT, practicing answering difficult questions. This allowed her to feel confident and structure her knowledge.
⚖️ Freelance: freedom or 24/7 work?
Today Oleksandra works freelance and honestly talks about both sides of this coin:
- pros: the opportunity to build your own schedule (which is important for “owls”) and choose projects yourself;
- cons: the risk of turning life into a full-time job; without clear boundaries, working from home quickly fills up all the space and time.
Alexandra’s story confirms: in 2026, career success depends on the speed of learning and the ability to use assistive technologies (such as AI). For us, as specialists working with digital systems, it is important to remember: technical base + adaptability = successful case in the market.
