Webinar ‘Methods of detecting social engineering and combating cyber fraud in the financial sector in the EU and Ukraine’

📅 On 07 May 2025, as part of the implementation of the Jean Monnet training module ‘EU Practices to Protect the Financial System from Cyber Threats’ (101085364-EU_PITCH-ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH), funded by the Erasmus+ programme, Doctor of Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Economic Cybernetics of Sumy State University Yarovenko Hanna Mykolaivna held a webinar for students, teachers and interested participants 🎓👩‍🏫.

💬 During the event, a range of problematic issues related to modern challenges in the field of cyber defence of financial infrastructure was considered. In particular, the emphasis was placed on the practical manifestations of social engineering as a tool for unauthorised access to critical systems; statistics of cyber incidents in the financial sector of the EU and Ukraine; consideration of technical and organisational countermeasures implemented at the level of European regulation and domestic practice.

Special attention was paid to the applied aspects of using modern software, in particular:
🧠 user behaviour analysis systems;
🎣 phishing detectors;
🛂 automated access control and management systems;
📡 systems for detecting anomalies in networks;
🗂️ solutions for metadata processing to increase the level of proactive protection;
🤖 technological solutions using neural networks.

📈 The event aroused keen interest among the academic community and security practitioners in the financial sector, which demonstrates the relevance of the topics covered in the context of integrating European cyber defence practices into national financial security strategies 🌍🔒.
