Recently, the French video game workers’ union STJV sued the well-known studio Amplitude Studios (creators of the Humankind strategy ). The reason is an attempt to implement generative AI without proper social dialogue.
The conflict, which has been ongoing since 2025, has reached the legal level due to differences in approaches to governance:
- The studio’s position: management proposed an internal “Charter on the Use of AI”, considering it a sufficient step to modernize production.
- Workers’ position: the trade union claims that the introduction of AI radically changes working conditions, and therefore requires not formal documents, but full-fledged collective bargaining.
Currently, STJV is demanding that the pilot project be suspended and a return to a meaningful discussion of the impact of technology on creative professions.
💻 Technology vs Creativity
Interestingly, in technical areas, tools like Claude Code has already become a standard for developers, helping to automate code writing. However, in the “creative” sector (design, screenwriting ), the use of generative AI is perceived more sharply due to the risks of devaluation of the profession and changes in the structure of employment.
