Optional course “European policies and practices of cybersecurity in the financial system”

We invite students to study the optional course “European Policies and Practices for Cybersecurity in the Financial System”, which is taught as part of the Jean Monnet Module “EU Practices to Protect the Financial System from Cyber Threats” (101085364 – EU_PITCH).
The purpose of the elective course is to develop students’ system of specialized knowledge in the field of cybersecurity and digital resilience of financial transactions, the ability to practically use EU regulations on cybersecurity in the financial system and responsible behavior of financial services consumers in cyberspace.

Course content and structure: the course is 2 ECTS (60 hours), including 16 lectures (32 hours) and 8 practical classes (16 hours).

The course covers the following topics:
1. Fundamental concepts and the EU cybersecurity environment
2. Privacy in the financial system: methods of ensuring in the EU and Ukraine
3. Cyber threats in the financial system of Europe and Ukraine
4. Legal regulation of cybersecurity in the European Union and directions of implementation in Ukraine
5. European practices of developing and implementing a national strategy for cyber resilience of the financial sector
6. European research on the thinking of cybercriminals in the financial sector
7. Responsible behavior of financial services consumers in cyberspace in Europe and Ukraine
8. The concept of risk management / risk assessment (RM / RA) ENISA

Course instructors: PhD in Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Economic Cybernetics Victoria BOZHENKO and PhD in Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Financial Technologies and Entrepreneurship Olena PAKHNENKO.

Target audience: 3-4 year students of economic specialties.

Course duration: the course will last 3 months (03.03.2025 – 25.05.2025).

Class format: classes will be held on the Google Meet platform in the form of lectures and seminars.

All participants who participate in at least 80% of the course will receive a certificate of completion, which can be counted as informal training.
