Professor of the department of economic cybernetics participates in international research project «Decentralization of energy and climate governance in Ukraine and Switzerland»

We are pleased to announce that professor of the Department of Economic Cybernetics Serhiy Lyeonov has become one of the leaders of the international research project «Decentralization of energy and climate governance in Ukraine and Switzerland». This project is being implemented by the Institute for Economy and the Environment (IWÖ-HSG) of the University of St.Gallen (Switzerland) and has received support from the The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the National Research Foundation of Ukraine (NRFU) with funding of CHF 399,720 for a period of three years.

The aim of the project is to explore ways to improve regional energy and climate policies to accelerate the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources in Ukraine and Switzerland. Professor Leonov co-leads the project alongside Prof. Dr Rolf Wüstenhagen, Chair of Management of Renewable Energies at the University of St. Gallen. The research team also includes leading Ukrainian scholars: Dr Nadiya Kostyuchenko, Prof. Dr Denys Smolennikov, Prof. Dr Oleksandr Telizhenko and Dr Inna Tiutiunyk.

The Department of Economic Cybernetics at Sumy State University is proud that Serhiy Lyeonov represents our department and university in this important international initiative, which has the potential to influence climate governance and energy transformation in Ukraine, Switzerland, and beyond.
