On 14 January 2026, as part of the Winter School ‘Digital Detectives with Big Data’, an online quiz ‘Digital Detectives: Social Networks VS Big Data’📈 was held for 11th grade students of Sumy Specialised School No. 9.
The event brought together 20 students. Alina Yurievna Yefimenko, assistant professor of the Department of Economic Cybernetics, provided information on Big Data using modern information technologies and conducted an interactive survey.
During the training, students considered:
- the concept of Big Data;
- Big Data in economics;
- the application of Big Data in macroeconomic analysis;
- the Kaggle platform.
The graduating students solved real-life problems in the context of social media monitoring and analysed the survey results in the context of the relationship between social media and Big Data.
During the event, a representative of the department introduced students to the specialities of the Sumy State University’s Faculty of Economics and Management, and also talked about the features of the Economic Cybernetics educational programme, which opens up prospects for a deeper study of modern economic models, the use of big data and mathematical methods.
