On 16 August 2024, the first class of the course ‘Machine Learning for Cybersecurity in Financial Services’ was successfully held. This course was implemented within the framework of the Erasmus + Jean Monnet module entitled ‘EU Practices for Protecting the Financial System from Cyber Threats’.
During the first lecture, students of the Economic Cybernetics programme were introduced to the basic concepts of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and data mining. They explored the key differences between these technologies, discussed the potential application of AI in the financial sector, and assessed the risks involved and how to mitigate them. The session also included a discussion of practical examples of how artificial intelligence can be used to address current cybersecurity issues in financial institutions.
We would like to thank everyone who took part in the first session of this exciting course and look forward to continuing this journey into the world of cybersecurity in finance and the EU’s experience in this area.
