On June 12, at 13.00, students of the educational programs “Esports and Computer Games Development” and students of the educational programs “Economic Cybernetics”, “Business Analytics”, “Economic Cybernetics and Business Analytics” met with a member of the EER, specialty 121 “Software Engineering”, Oleksandr Khrutskyi, CEO & Founder of the conference for video game developers “Games Gathering”.
The Ukrainian gaming industry has been showing rapid development in recent years and is becoming an increasingly important industry in the information space. Today, there are more than 100 companies in the Ukrainian game development market. Ukrainian game developers are becoming more competitive and productive, producing high-quality games that are highly appreciated by players and critics.
Oleksandr Khrutskyi is the founder of Games Gathering, a conference for video game developers. Together with his team, Oleksandr has created a place where representatives of the gaming industry can not only talk about business, but also present their projects and share their experiences.
During the online meeting, Oleksandr told the students about current trends in the game development industry, his path in game development, the history of Games Gathering, and plans for the conference.
At the conference, many people are looking for new employees, some are promoting their own brands, and others are looking for outsourcing teams. Publishers and investors come to look at indie projects, looking for young and talented teams to publish. Indie developers, of course, present their games, look for funding, win prizes in various nominations, get feedback from people who have been developing games for 10-20 years, and this is very useful for them.
Students received useful tips for promoting themselves in the game development market. According to Oleksandr, indie developers should attend conferences. Games Gathering provides free stands for indie developers to showcase their projects. By attending the conference, participants can get useful feedback. Moreover, the feedback is not just from people on the street, but from industry experts. In addition, indie developers are looking for funding in 90% of cases. The conference is the best place to meet a publisher, investor, and find funds.
During the communication, the students received answers to many different questions about the development of computer games and the development of the game industry.
This is the first meeting of Oleksandr with the department staff and students. The Department of Economic Cybernetics is sincerely grateful to Oleksandr for agreeing to join the Expert Council of Employers and supporting the educational program “Esports and Computer Games Development” at the stage of its opening.
Moreover, after the meeting with the students, Oleksandr provided promotional codes that allowed both students and teachers of the department to take part in the conference for free.
The Department of Economic Cybernetics is sincerely grateful to Oleksandr for the meeting and hopes for close cooperation and for Oleksandr’s involvement in teaching professional disciplines in computer game development!
