As part of
the course ‘Quantitative Methods in Economics’ and with the aim of acquiring
practical skills in using MS Excel for data analysis, first-year students
majoring in C1 ‘Economics and International Economic Relations’ took part in
the National Digital Skills Marathon, which began on 9 December 2025. The National Digital Skills Marathon is a
nationwide initiative that helps Ukrainians develop modern digital competencies
for learning, work and business.
The speaker
was Maria Hafutniak, an analyst at Info Sapiens and mentor of the Data Analyst
course.
During the
first session, higher education students had the opportunity to learn how to
work with pivot tables in Excel, a tool that transforms large amounts of data
into understandable reports.
The webinar
covered the following topics
• Requirements
for creating pivot tables: how to structure data correctly before analysis
• Creating
pivot tables: key parameters, filters, sorting
• Grouping
in pivot tables: summarising data by category, period, value
• creating
charts based on pivot tables: how to convert data into understandable
visualisations.
Participation
in the webinar provided higher education students with the opportunity to learn
how to confidently create their own summary tables and diagrams, obtaining real
insights from the data for decision-making in their studies and personal
projects.
The
Department of Economic Cybernetics invites students to attend online workshops,
webinars, and meetings with practitioners and employers to understand current
labour market trends and identify opportunities for future career growth.
