Red flags in job postings: what to look for?

Finding your first job or internship is always a challenge. Especially when some vacancies look attractive only at first glance. We have collected the most common “red flags” in job descriptions to help students avoid unpleasant surprises.

🔺 “Junior with 2+ years of experience”

The employer expects the skills of a Middle-level specialist for a Junior-level salary. Specify who your mentor will be and how the learning process is organized.

🔺 “Flexible schedule (9:00–10:00, ending – according to the results of the day)”

Probable lack of clear frameworks and compensated overtime. Ask how many hours the team actually works and whether there are fixed deadlines.

🔺 “Stress resistance, initiative, love of change”

Possible chaos in processes. Find out what causes the most stress in the team and how tasks are distributed.

🔺 “Need a universal soldier: Canva, HTML, social media…”

This is a signal that the company is looking for one person for several positions. It is worth clarifying: are these mandatory skills or desirable? And who else is on the team.

🔺 “Like family. Always in touch”

Instead of caring, expect constant availability. Ask how communication is regulated outside of working hours and who is responsible for deadlines.

💡 Remember: work should inspire, not exhaust. Ask questions, weigh the real conditions — and look for a place where you are appreciated.
