Why do you fail interviews? 7 possible reasons

The source of the material is Happy Monday ❤️.

1️⃣. Poor self-presentation

Your #1 task is to learn how to answer the questions: “Why are you interested in this position?”, “Tell us about your experience and achievements,” “Why should we choose you?” 🤔. Answers should be concise, but at the same time cover all important points. Aim for 5-10 minutes for the main story about you as a specialist and your career 🕒.

2️⃣. Low level of English

If your work is related to the use of a foreign language (especially in oral form) – immediately indicate your level honestly 📝. Remember: you will most likely be asked a few questions in English at the start of the hiring process.

3️⃣. Lack of interest and/or unclear motivation

Companies count on long-term cooperation with the candidate, so his lack of a clear explanation of the reasons for his interest in a specific vacancy, his own aspirations and plans (what he wants to achieve, what he wants to learn, master or implement) can be a reason for the recruiter to refuse 🙅🏻‍♂️.

You can show your interest, for example, as follows:
📌 preparation for the interview — study the vacancy and the company;
📌 with your questions – not only about the duration of the vacation or the location of the office, but also about the plans of the department you may join, the company’s corporate culture, your goals for the first few months, etc.;
📌 follow-up by letter (read the next post) or a message sent after the conversation.

4️⃣. Gaps in soft skills

Every employee must be able to clearly and consistently convey their thoughts, clearly answer questions, present their ideas and proposals 📈, give and receive feedback, establish cooperation with colleagues, you can be refused.

5️⃣. Inconsistency of the resume with real experience

It is necessary to write only the truth in the resume. List only the skills / tools / technologies that you actually have 📑 and only the experience that you have gained, not someone on your team.

6️⃣. High salary expectations

We advise you to discuss the issue of salary at the start of the hiring process 💰, because you invest a lot of effort and time in it, so it is in your best interest to protect yourself from a possible future misunderstanding.

7️⃣. Simple inattention

Read the vacancy before sending your resume. Of course, it’s okay to apply for a job that you’re not 100% qualified for, but in that case, it’s a good idea to mention in your cover letter that you noticed this and explain why it’s not a problem.
